Rahul Gandhi’s Day-Long Visit to Gujarat: A Rallying Cry for Congress

Rallying the Troops: Congress Workers’ Convention

Ahmedabad: In a strategic move to galvanize support and energize party workers, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Ahmedabad today, amidst heightened political tensions. This visit comes just days after a violent clash erupted between Congress and BJP workers outside the Gujarat Congress headquarters. The confrontation was reportedly sparked by Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks perceived as ‘anti-Hindu’ during his speech in Parliament.

During the visit, Rahul Gandhi met with party workers and addressed the Congress Workers’ Convention, making a bold statement: “They have challenged us. We will defeat Modi, BJP in Gujarat just like we did in Ayodhya.” His declaration highlights the Congress’s determination to challenge the ruling BJP in the upcoming elections. This visit is seen as a critical step for the party, which recently celebrated winning its first Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat in over a decade.

Following the clash earlier this week, five Congress workers were arrested and sent to judicial custody. Despite the scheduled end of their remand at 4 PM, they were presented in court in the morning, preventing Rahul Gandhi from meeting them. Congress MLA Imran Khedawala expressed disappointment but assured that Rahul would meet the families of the arrested workers.

The political turbulence stems from an altercation that involved stone-pelting and resulted in injuries to five police personnel, including an assistant commissioner. FIRs have been filed against nearly 450 workers from both parties, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing political rivalry.

Meeting Victims’ Families

Beyond addressing party workers, Rahul Gandhi’s agenda includes a visit to the families of those who lost their lives in recent tragedies in Gujarat. These include the Rajkot game zone fire, the boat capsize incident in Vadodara, and the Morbi bridge collapse. This compassionate outreach is aimed at showing solidarity and support to the affected families, highlighting the Congress leader’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the common people.
