Why the High Hopes? Haryana, with 2% of the country’s population, has secured 33% of the quotas:
Kripashankar Bishnoi explained that for the first time, 5 out of 6 female wrestlers and 4 female shooters, along with 1 athlete in archery, have qualified.
Athletics: Neeraj Chopra: Achieved the direct qualifying mark of 85.50 meters for the Paris Olympics. He became the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics. Since the Tokyo Olympics, he has won gold in 5 events and silver in 2.
Practicing in France: Manu Bhaker.
Among the quota winners from Haryana, 65% are women:
Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik and two-time Olympian Vinesh Phogat have been coached by me. This time, 65% of the quota winners from Haryana are women. Girls are serious and career-oriented towards their goals. Once they start working with dedication, they excel.
This dedication has resulted in 5 out of 6 female wrestlers and 4 out of 6 female shooters securing quotas for the first time. The first quota in archery was also secured by a woman. Despite a long dispute in wrestling, female wrestlers remained unaffected. With their technique, enthusiasm, and timely decisions, Haryana’s athletes can gift the country golden victories.
